AI Policy

In line with the requirements of most universities worldwide, I do not use AI tools in my proofreading, and nor do my colleagues. We believe that the work to which you have dedicated so much time and effort deserves careful attention from a person rather than an algorithm. A human proofreader with decades of academic and editorial experience will have an understanding of your aims, of the importance of nuance and context, and of the need for consistency in tone and perspective. In addition, we can offer a greater understanding of the potential for bias in language, especially in texts that demand a specialised language or specific academic conventions. A human proofreader will also be able to explain any changes and corrections, and to respond in detail to any queries you might have. We use ‘Track Changes’ when correcting your work for full transparency and are always happy to provide clarification.
